Since our last post surrounded the mini excavator – which is arguably used for some larger projects – we thought it would be a good idea to tone it down a little. How Do They Work?
As the name would suggest, garden tillers are ideal for gardening. They use a motor to continuously turn a series of rotating blades to turn the soil. They can be used on their own, and can also be attached to a tractor or other vehicle. “Tilling” soil is a term that refers to the preparation of land for growing crops. Soil with good “tilth” has a variety of nutrients and a better structure for growth than traditional soil. Soil tillers are typically either gas or electrically powered.
Proceed With Caution

Examine the land you are planning to till, and remove any weeds or other potential obstacles, like rocks and large clumps of soil. If you are using it in an existing garden, try to stay at least two feet from existing plants to avoid damaging them.
